111 Service

111 offers free expert health information and advice 24 hours a day. Contact them by ringing 111, or for more information visit their website www.nhs.uk/111

For deaf people and those hard of hearing, a TXT service is available on 111. If English is not your preferred language, you can choose to use a confidential translation service.

If you need URGENT medical attention out of hours, please ring 111.

The Partners of this practice are charged for every patient who contacts this out of hours service. Please do not consider this service an alternative to booking appointments outside your normal working hours, or ordering regular prescriptions.

EMERGENCIES

Please call 999 in an emergency.

Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.

Increased access to primary care is currently being trialled.

Penwortham St Mary's is the hub on Saturdays.

To access primary care, please call 111.

Increased Access is a serviced commissioned by Greater Preston CCG to provide a seven day service to patients.

We are working in collaboration with the following practices to provide an out of hours service.

Dr Yerra – Gutteridge Medical Centre

Dr Shahid – Gutteridge Medical Centre

Briarwood Medical Centre

Doclands Medical Centre

North Preston Medical Group

Park View Surgery

Park Medical Practice

St Fillan's Medical Centre

The service is available Monday to Friday 6.30pm - 8.00pm and Saturday and Sundays 8.00am - 12.00pm.  There will also be a Bank Holiday service (with the exception of Christmas Day) but the times of this may vary. Notices will be able nearer the time in surgery, on this website and via our Facebook page.

Appointments are a mixture of face to face and telephone consultations, and you may be asked to travel to a different practice to be seen.  As well as GP appointments, staff at the locality clinics will provide a range of appointments from Practice Nurses, who will be available to provide chronic disease reviews, smears and childhood immunisations, along with other Health Care Professionals.

Our staff can book these appointments for you, as we would for our weekday service. When the service is open our phone lines will divert automatically to the service, but you can also ring the Increased Access Service directly on 01772 529200.

Unfortunately, there is no facility to book or cancel appointments online for the Increased Access Service at this time.

Please note that once all availability is full, you may be directed to an alternative service, such as 111.

Please also be aware that the administrative staff working at the locality surgeries do not have access to patients’ full medical records and therefore will not be able to answer queries on referrals, prescriptions, test results, private work and entries to medical records.

Remember: In a genuine emergency, you should call 999.

Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency

The Practice closes on a regular basis for GP and staff training on a Tuesday afternoon.

The surgery will be closed from 1.00pm, therefore, you will NOT be able to collect your PRESCRIPTION that afternoon.
