Kingsfold Pharmacy – Supply issues & how to change your nomination
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT PRESCRIPTIONS AND YOUR NOMINATED PHARMACY
——————————
WHAT’S HAPPENING?
——————————
Some patients have been asked to return to the surgery for an alternative prescription because their nominated pharmacy, Kingsfold Pharmacy was unable to supply the item. In many cases, the medicine is available, but pharmacies may be limited by their ordering or dispensing systems when the purchase price of a medicine is higher than the Drug Tariff reimbursement rate.
This can lead to:
– Delays in receiving medication
– Requests to return to the GP for alternatives
– Frustration for patients
– Extra work for both the pharmacy and the practice
We wrote to the Pharmacy Manager at Kingsfold Pharmacy on 27th October 2025, but we have yet to receive any response. Unfortunately, our patients are continuing to experience issues with obtaining vital medication.

HOW THIS MIGHT AFFECT YOU
——————————
You may:
– Be asked to wait while the pharmacy tries to order the item
– Be offered an alternative medicine
– Be asked to return to the practice for a different prescription
——————————
WHAT YOU CAN DO
——————————
1. **Check your nominated pharmacy:** If your pharmacy is experiencing supply issues, you may wish to nominate a different one (See below)
2. **Ask the pharmacy:** If an item is unavailable, ask whether they can order it and how long it will take.

HOW TO CHANGE YOUR NOMINATED PHARMACY

WHY WE’RE SHARING THIS
——————————
We want to be transparent so that you can make an informed decision about where to collect your medicines. If a particular pharmacy is experiencing supply problems, choosing a different one may help avoid delays.
